The first proper wine tasting I went to was at the Castello di Amorosa in Calistoga, California.
So, Calistoga is North of Napa Valley and is still part of wine country. This area was just absolutely gorgeous. The Castello is an exact replica of a 1400s Tuscany style castle with hundreds of year old bricks imported from Italy. But please do not fact check me on that exactly.
This particular winery does not have any of their bottles in any stores so everything is sold and shipped from in the winery.
The tour Rachel and I did was the guided tour and tasting where she was drinking for two and got a little too drunk. By the end of our Clos Pegase tour in Calistoga, she was gone. Literally threw up in a Sonic parking lot in gone. It was honestly hilarious but definitely embarrassing.
How was it embarrassing for me? OH because I did the same thing in New Orleans that next September for a best friend's wedding weekend. That is definitely a different story for a different day but one of those mornings I called Rachel apologizing for the car video I have of her because I did the same thing the night before.
I was never a big wine drinker though until I went to Napa/ Calistoga. Now I of course love it, but love the experience a wine tasting does versus a beer flight. That is not to say I do not like beer, but I just love the wine experience more so than the other.
